Science Ministries - Dear Answers in Creation:
I recently stumbled across your site while searching for a creation science ministry that I knew was located in my home state of Virginia. (I eventually found it, micro-biologist/lawyer Dr. Kelly Hollowell and her Science Ministries is located at: www.ScienceMinistries.org). I've decided to make my feeble attempt to respond to your position. May the Holy Spirit lovingly guide me.
As a Biblical creationist, I can think of no better place to begin my evangelistic witness than in this area. No doubt because I was 'born again' during an incredible period of trial and tribulation in my own life, as my wife lay dying in the hospital. What a fantastic message we have to share, of hope for a lost, hurting and dying world, of the good news that all of the pain, suffering and death we see during this age is but a very temporary intrusion into God's 'very good' creation! We can present the Gospel, as Christ did, using the weight of the Law to show sinfulness (and bring conviction). We can point to pain, suffering and death to show sin's outward consequences while allowing the wicked and depraved heart to testify to sin's inward or spiritual consequences. We can help remove the scales from their eyes by showing, through the words of scripture, that all of this bloodshed, disease and cancer were not here originally and better yet, will be done away with in the future when the last enemy, Death, is destroyed followed by the re-creation of the new heavens and new earth. World without end, Amen!
(On the other hand, I can not imagine trying to share the 'love' of a god who thinks it is a very good thing to create using pain, suffering, bloodshed, disease, cancer and death. In fact, I can't imagine getting anyone to listen to that sort of 'good news'!)
Then we can point to the ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah or better yet look to the fossilized Flood record exposed in the Grand Canyon and teach of the neccessary judgement that has to come forth from a perfectly just and holy God who can have no sin stand before Him and will one day bring final judgement from which no unconverted soul will escape.
Finally, we can show the ONLY way of escape as the salvation message is shared, making sense of the neccessity of our Lord Jesus Christ enduring pain, suffering, bloodshed, death, hell and the grave on our behalf.
